The conference itself will take place in the Watson Building (School of Mathematics) - Building number R15 (red zone) on the attached campus map link.

Registration
Registration along with tea/coffee will be available in the Bridge Study Room each morning, which is on the 1st Floor Watson Building (School of Mathematics - building R15).

Car parking
Visitors to campus are requested to park in one of the 4 pay & display car parks. South Car Park (access via Edgbaston Park Road) is the nearest car park to the Watson Building North Car Park (access via Pritchatts Rd). The current cost is £1.00 per day.

Taxis
Local taxis can be ordered from T.O.A. Taxis (0121 427 8888), Crown Cars (0121 444 4444), Blue Arrow Cars (0121 444 6444) or Atlas Cars (0800 977 4262). The journey to New Street Station takes approximately ten minutes - when ordering a taxi to the conference venue it is useful to say that the Watson Building is next to the East Gate of the University.

Conference Rooming
The conference is being held in the Watson Building at the University of Birmingham.  All Keynote sessions will take place within Lecture Room A. This lecture theatre will also be used for parallel sessions, along with Lecture Room B, Lecture Room C and The Mathematics Learning Centre which can all be found within Watson Building. A lift is available, accessible most easily from the basement of Watson Building, which provides access to the first, second and third floors.  Wheelchair access to the ground floor is via the front doors of the building.

Introduction
The aim of this conference is to promote, explore and disseminate effective practice and research findings in Mathematics and Statistics teaching, learning, support and assessment. The conference will appeal to all those teaching Mathematics, Statistics or Numeracy in higher education, whether this is to specialist mathematics students or students studying components of mathematics within their degree programmes (such as bioscience, chemistry, computer science, economics, engineering, nursing, physics, psychology, social work, etc.).

The conference will explore the following themes :

· Practitioner research
· Mathematics, mind and brain
· Evaluating support centres
· Higher level and postgraduate teaching
· Outreach and public engagement
· Innovative Practice

Types of Submission

General Papers:
Abstracts of papers are invited presenting work on the conference themes. Submissions should show consideration of the conference audience and present the work, where appropriate, within the context of existing case studies and relevant literature in the area.

Authors will be asked to give a 20 minute presentation, with the potential for full papers to be invited for publication in the proceedings and MSOR Connections.

Papers submitted for inclusion within the Conference Proceedings must:

· Demonstrate a research or scholarly nature in either an existing area or a new one;
· Demonstrate new or innovative practice or an extension of existing practice;
· Collate and explore existing practice bringing together current thinking and expertise, and relate it to the mathematical sciences;
· Include an element of evaluation relating to the teaching and learning practice discussed in the paper.
· Reference appropriate learning and teaching literature including, where appropriate, other activity in this area.
